catch 22

what a week!

I mentioned in an earlier post that we were on the home buying journey, well it came to a screeching halt yesterday.

The hub and I looked at all sorts of houses this last week , from small to big, cheap to not so cheap , near and far , then it happened....... we got the call form the bank telling us that we would not be able to get a loan for the amount we need ( which was more than we asked for) and that due to the crafty work of our accountant we were under qualified when it comes to our income. The bank knows this isn't the case but since it is what our tax returns for 06 say we made x amount and the rest was work related supplies and helpers wages then it is what it is .

I feel screwed either way , if we do our return this year and show that we make as much as we do it will put us in a higher tax bracket and we will pay out the ass in taxes and owe the IRS forever, but if we do the return like we have in the past then we won't make enough to get a loan that is large enough to get a house.

FUCK FUCK!!!

At this very moment we are able to get a loan for half the amount that was submitted , this would get us a house but a very small ,cheap, far house and it wouldn't work out in the end being a good thing .

Right now we live in the west side and have no family or work really on the east side and since the hub is always working diffrent areas , he wouldn't want to have more than an hour drive from work and if we get the far cheap small house it would push him into a hour plus drive.

The second bad thing is that in order to get to the cheap, small, far house
you have a one way in , one way out road that would be a nightmare should it ever close for any reason ( flooding or an accident) and I haven't heard or seen any plans that will add a freeway or new roads to that area in the near future.

I am so bummed out right now, and it sucks to see that all this is nothing but a waste of time. The bank guy actually said "you have a VERY good accountant" and I emailed him back "I'm not sure this is a good thing or a bad thing".

For now I am dropping the whole thing and want to get drunk ( I never do this but I feel it is now in order).

Sorry to rant but , I feel slightly better.
